Place of the Project: Neighborhood Zamorano (Palmira, Valle del Cauca)
Community participant: Musicians, artists and cultural managers neighborhood Zamorano (Palmira, Valle del Cauca). They are mostly immigrants Nariño mostly linked to cutting cane in the Ingenio Manuelita and the sugar industry in the region.
Objectives:
- Documenting musical practices (songs, music, dance) that are part of the cultural tradition of community-based immigrants in Nariño neighborhood Zamorano (Palmira) and linked directly or indirectly to Ingenio Manuelita
- Jointly explore alternatives to strengthen its transmission to new generations
- Develop alternatives disclosure of local cultural heritage and history of immigrants to the region Nariño
Date:
The project started in September 2009 and lasted until June 2010. Was maintained participation of local musicians in subsequent program activities, as MartinaPombo-River 2011 Music concerts.
Realization:
- Audio recordings of repertoire played and composed by local musicians
- Identification of musical groups, cultural managers and artists in the industry
- Characterization and documentation (photographic, video, sound) songs, dances and traditional theatrical performances
- Document review of the process of immigration to the region nariñense
- Participants: Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali, Manuela SA community of musicians and cultural sector managers, community organizations (colonies, together local action) neighborhood Zamorano (Palmira) MartinaPombo team.
