Community participant: Cantoras and traditional musicians of the municipality of Villa Rica, Cauca
Objectives:
- Documenting traditional musical practices (songs, music, dance and poetry) that are still in force between the community
- Jointly explore alternatives to strengthen its transmission to new generations
- Develop alternatives disclosure of local cultural heritage.
- Date of work: The project started in November 2007 and lasted until July 2009 Although the investigation phase concluded, the work remains currently in the stages of dissemination of results and outreach..
Results:
- Recordings of traditional songs, poems and testimonies on musical traditions
- Biographical profiles of musical practitioners of the region
- Characterization and documentation (photography, video, audio) of songs, dances and traditional theatrical performances
- Traveling art shows (photographic exhibition, painting exhibition and concert) promoting the cultural heritage of the municipality of Villa Rica (MartinaPombo-Music Concert Rio 2010 and 2011)
- Academic articles on the social organization around music
- Plan for strengthening the transmission of traditional musical knowledge among local youth
- Supporting local cultural initiatives
- Participants: Pontificia Universidad Javeriana Cali, Central Bank, Villa Rica Foundation, a community of singers, musicians and traditional cultural managers of Villa Rica, equipment MartinaPombo
